Tomorrow is your day! All the dreams you had as a little girl will be fulfilled tomorrow. All the years I’ve waited to see my best friend marry, will be worth the wait! Tomorrow you start a new chapter with the man you have loved for so long. I have just a few things I want you to know and remember as tomorrow unravels and a new chapter begins.
This is what i want you to remember.
Tomorrow will be one of the most hectic days of your life. You’ll be running around like a chicken with its head cut off making sure this is in place, thats in place, the flowers are fixed right, the makeup and hair is perfect, the dress stays clean, the groom and bridal party arrives on time, and you may even freak out because you forgot something, but remember to just breathe and soak it all in. This hectic day will be one of the most important days of your life and you will remember every little detail of it.
As tomorrow will be special to you, we know a few others who it would have been special too. And i want to tell you that its ok to cry and be sad tomorrow. Even though they arent here in person to watch their baby girl start her new life, they are here in spirit and in your heart. And they are proud of you!
This is what I want you to know.
Marriage is the most beautiful thing that can happen between two people who are in love. It can be the most beautiful story that they write together. Its left up to yall. I know by the smile you wear on your face and the twinkle in Nick’s eyes when yall are together that this will be a beautiful story of true love and how it found yall when yall least expected it. Take every little piece in. Cherish it. Marriage will not always be easy, but how yall work through it will make it seem less hard. As im sitting here typing this i look up at the two pictures i have on my desk. One of me and Derek and one of me and Eugene. I am reminded that love will overpower everything. Love is stronger than any arguement, its stronger than any disagreement, its stronger than any sickness, and most of all love is stronger than death. The love you and Nick share can and will override any obstacle and jump any hurdle. Marriage will bring you bumps in the road, but as one yall just have to buckle up, throw it in four wheel drive and keep moving. Thats easier said than done, but the love yall share will drive through it.
Dont take anything for granted. Make sure you send each other to work with a kiss and to bed with a kiss. No matter what pray for each other and together. Never forget to say I love you! Take lots of pictures and keep them, good or bad! Make memories! Cherish them! Also let each other know you appreciate them. Always stay true to your vows! Through the best & worst times, the good & the bad, sickness & health, and always love & cherish each other.
Marriage is team work. Depending on the effort you both put in it will determine what kind of team you have. Make it undefeated!
You have been my best friend for so long. You have been there through the good and the bad. I thank God daily for placing you in my life when we were so young. We have shared so many memories. You have never failed to encourage me when my world seems to be falling apart which seems like alot lately. Most importantly you’ve been by my side. You have always been good to me, but i realized just how important our friendship was when Derek’s accident happened and how you stuck by when he passed. You will never know what that meant to me. My favorite memory will always be having you by my side on my wedding day almost nine years ago. I cant explain how honored I am to stand beside you on yours.
Always remember nothing is too hard for God. Let my marriages be an example to you that with God you and Nick can get through anything.
